Volunteer at the Herndon Museum!

The Herndon Historical Society is seeking volunteers ages 13 and older to work at the Herndon Museum. The museum is is open from noon to 3PM on Sundays, is located in Herndon’s historic train depot adjacent to the WO&D trail in the heart of downtown Herndon.

Girls would need to work in groups of 2 or 3, and an adult would be required to be present if girls are under the age of 18. Orientation/training is provided at the beginning of each shift, or they can arrange to conduct orientation at other times as well.

This program provides an opportunity to fulfill service hours for the Silver Trefoil award.

Teen scholarships

Get Ready for school with $500 from APHA (American Public Health Association)
Get Ready ScholarshipAttention all high schoolers, college and graduate students: To raise awareness about emergency preparedness, APHA is offering its third annual Get Ready Scholarship. Six scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to two high school students, two college undergraduate students and two graduate students who write the best essays on preparedness. Winning students will also receive a one-year membership in APHA.
